Structure of the C156 units Every C156 incorporates the following modules:
-
Input modules: one per channel, providing the sensor signal input with signal conditioning adjustments, the adjustable frequency divider, the frequency TTL output, and the internal signal for the measuring section,
-
Measuring modules: each with two parallel measuring sections providing two speed values, their ratio, difference, and sum, with two of these quantities pre-programmable for alternative display, or one of these converted into an analog signal output. Further, transmission of the values by the (optional) RS232 data interface.
Therefore, if both measurements, or their derived quantities, are required to be displayed simultaneously in parallel, or each quantity is to serve its own separate analog output, correspondingly more measuring modules are required.
Accordingly, C156 versions are available with up to 4 input modules and up to 4 measuring modules.
Power supply Available for 85 ...265 volts AC/DC (suffix U2 to model No.), or 18 ... 40 volts AC/DC (suffix U1 to model No.). Power consumption depending on module selection 8 ...25 w. Plug-in socket at rear.
Design
Bench-Top enclosure with handle. Fold-out flaps at bottom front.
Height approx. 180 mm, depth 260 mm.
Width depends on number of inputs and measuring modules.
Sensors All our sensors fit the C156. Select those most suitable to the application according to the listings in section Sensors, also their useful accessories.
For the compliance of other sensors compare the opposite specification of the Input Module.
Sensor Cables For sensors with ...P type connection use cable SAK, for those with ...B type connection use cable L3A25BP. Standard length
2 meters, 5 meters; others on request.

Specifications Input Modules Accepting all our sensors and those of most suppliers. Adaptation of response by manual or automatic selection. Level 50 millivolts up to 50 volts. Frequency range up to 50 kHz. Sensor supply 12 v / 60 ma. 3 digit adjustable pre-divider, to balance unequal pulse distances in the input signal.
Pulse output providing a shaped pulse train (subsequent to divider) with 5 volts TTL level, to trigger other devices, in accordance to the true object motion.
Measuring Modules Each module engages two channels, simultaneously measuring two process variables M and B. Each channel observes its own programmable relation to its input signal frequency. Both using the unique principle of pulse distance measurement, automatically maintaining a (programmable) minimum period: thus combining rapid tracing and averaging of measurements.
Accuracy of measurement + 0.01 % + 1 in LSD.
Minimum programmable period 30 millisec ...10 sec.
The measuring module uses the measurements of M and B to continuously compute the derivatives: ratio M÷B, sum M+B, difference M-B, and percentage difference (M-B)÷B.
Thus, in total, each measuring section provides 6 quantities.
2 of which can be pre-programmed for alternative display, 1 one of them can be assigned to the analog output of the module.
The display can be push-button switched between 2 of the above 6 quantities, as pre-selected by program.
Decimals programmable. Bright red 8 mm LED figures.
Memory for MAX/MIN.
The analog output follows one out of the 6 above quantities. The high and low end of its conversion span is programmable. Its output signal can be converted from 20 ma (max. 500 ohms load), to 10 volts (max. 3ma load) as full scale, with live zero programmable. Resolution 12 bit (1:4096).
Isolated against other inputs and outputs.
The data output (optional) transmits all measurements following a demand call (own protocol). Standard RS232.
